Round Tower Visitor Centre, Clondalkin
Description
Soft landscaping including the supply, delivery, installation and maintenance of plants, compost and other soft landscape materials for the completion of publicly accessible gardens in the ground of Clondalkin Round Tower, a protected structure.
The contract included planting of trees, fruit trees, herbaceous plants and bulbs. The concept behind the scheme was to try and create the sense of a monastic garden and to this end plants were carefully selected by the landscape architect.
Areas of wildflower and a small barley ‘field’ were sown together with normal lawn grass. Due to the success of the project, most of the areas are now being used for yoga and other outdoor activities.
